Graphic design, installation design, audio and video setup for an exposition by Alyona Kaidagaliyeva, presenting her research titled ‘From Avant-Garde to Biennale: A Parallel History of Kazakhstani Art.’
The exposition was part of the broader exhibition called Post-Future / Astana - Venice / GEN1 at the National Museum of Astana, Kazakhstan. On view from 17th May 2025 till June 11th 2025 (official dates that later got extended to one more month from the closing date).
The room contains scaffolding and stage constructions used to hold PVC printed panels. On the left side the panels are 4,4m x 1m long each and contain the timeline and the chronology of Kazakhstani artists’ laying the foundation and leading up to the eventual participation in the Venice Biennale. The timeline contains 3 languages in one panel, English, Kazakh and Russian. The chronology is in Kazakh.
On the right side, the panels are 1,7m x 1m each, and contain the chronology in English and Russian, as well as 3 language texts to accompany the videos projected on a monitor screen beside the scaffolding.
